Thematic maps display information about a certain topic over a specific area. Examples of this data could be rainfall totals in the southeast, areas where Hispanics populate the majority, and land values. This specific thematic map displays speed of travel in the 1860's by railroad. The map uses contour lines to show the speed it took to get to areas in the northeast.
